Turn the whole head of garlic upside down and press down on the roots with the palm of your hand to break the head into individual cloves.
Grab two metal salad bowls and place all of the cloves in one of them. Then turn the other bowl upside down and place it on top of the bowl which contains the cloves.
With the two bowls together tightly forming somewhat of a large squished ball, grab the edges with a hand on each side to hold them together tightly.
Shake them very hard up and down for 5 to 10 seconds and let the cloves hit against the top and bottom of the two bowls repeatedly.
